The famous,
ancient market town of Bakewell lies in the heart of the Peak District
National Park. The capital of the Peak , this small town is packed
with shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes.
Monday being the
liveliest day of the week when the oldest market in the area takes
place. There is also a large cattle market held here.

No visit to
Bakewell would be complete without sampling a pudding from one of the
local bakeries. Many picturesque villages surround the area with the
larger towns of Buxton, Matlock and Chesterfield close by.

The area is superb
for walkers and cyclists with beautiful countryside and trails waiting
to be explored. Bakewell is also close to many interesting
attractions, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, both a short drive
away. Please see the attractions page for in-depth information of the
Peak District area.
